Hi MISS CHIA!

Topic Question:

Is there a relationship between a person's Blood Pressure before and after exercise?

Research hypothesis-
There is a relationship in a person Blood Pressure before and after exercise.

Null Hypothesis-
There is no relationship in a person Blood Pressure before and after exercise.

Sampling:
30 people
Accident sampling

Reasons:
* It is more convenience for us to collect our subjects.
* There is no bias in collecting the sample.

Independent Variables: Exercise
Dependent Variables: Blood Pressure
Extraneous Variables: Age, Gender, Race, Past medical History

Conceptualization:
Blood pressure:
The higher (systolic) number represents the pressure while the heart contracts to pump blood to the body.
The lower (diastolic) number represents the pressure when the heart relaxes between beats.
Exercise:
Any bodily activity that enhances or maintains fitness and improve health.

Operationalization:
Exercise
is measured using people run one round around the stadium within 5 mins.
Blood pressure is measured using manual BP set and the stethoscope in Mmhg.
To make sure the measurement is the accurate and reliability. We use the same BP set and stethoscope.

We choose Interrater reliability, where we collect the blood pressure two times and the results should not have much different.

Here are some picture that we took to collect our subjects :*
We take our subjects at the stadium

By checking the validity:
We do it on one another first to make sure the equipment is accurate.
As in: everyone Bp we took on one another should be around the same.

We collecting our subjects-

Our date is scale date.
Hence, we choose Pearson's R moment correlation coefficient to analysis the correlation between the variables.

Systolic before and after exercise.

P = 0.000 is less than P < 0.001.
Therefore, we have to reject our null hypothesis and accept our research hypothesis.

r = 0.627
Results:
There is a positive, strong relationship and significant association between a person Blood Pressure before and after exercise.

Diastolic before and after exercise.

P = 0.001 is equal to P < 0.001.
Therefore, we have to reject our null hypothesis and accept our research hypothesis.

r=0.558

Results:
There is a positive, moderate relationship and significant association between a person Blood Pressure before and after exercise.

In conclusion, we found out that there is a significant differences in subjects' systolic blood pressure before and after exercise. Diastolic blood pressure, most of the time is constant. Hence, in the future or during attachment, we should not take our patients blood pressure after they exercise. As it may not be accurate and we'll misinterpret patients' current condition.

Reflection:As for us, we really enjoyed ourselves and had fun with this project especially during collecting our data! We've learnt to carry out our sampling as a team and have cooperation amongst ourselves while delegating tasks and carrying it out. We've learnt to incorporate research methods into our process of researching and executing our plan. We also learn the SPSS software well, even though we faced some difficulties during plotting the graphs and analysing it. With this useful knowledge, we can put it to good use for our future researches.

Thanks to all the kind souls for helping us out! We really appreciate it =D
